Getting Social
Story Time
Early 2024, I wanted to trade-in my RAV4 for either a truck or a car. A family-oriented vehicle was no longer necessary, so no more SUVs or crossovers. I was thinking a Tacoma truck or cars like the Crown or the Camry. I wasn’t looking for a sports car and then I saw a co-worker was shopping for a GR86. He’s much younger, better looking, and budget conscience. Since I had none of those things going for me (especially the budget conscience part), I began my search for a GR Supra.
Anyone who shopped for a Mk5 Supra knows they are hard to find. I suppose it was easier if you lived in a coastal city, but living in the Great Lakes region, not even Chicago was stocked with them. I finally got on a waiting list for a black one that would be arriving in Bowling Green, Kentucky. However, as I waited, I started growing attached to images of the 45th Anniversary Edition. Mikan Blast (I like the international name of Plasma Orange better) began to become a color of vehicle I really wanted. Soon after (mid-June 2024), a Mikan Blast 45th Anniversary Edition appeared in Wisconsin and my wife and I made the journey to trade-in the RAV4 for something less practical.
What I didn’t realize at the time (I’m sure many a car enthusiast would laugh) was how much attention the car would draw. The orange color which looks almost red at times is eye-catching. And smiles, head nods, and thumbs-up are never in short supply. This is even more evident when my wife and I travel. I love driving the car (it is my daily) and I love taking road trips with my wife. And this is how I got here.
I hope to post pictures and videos of our trips featuring the Supra, but more than that, I want to share the stories. People I’ve met … other cars (especially other Supras). There’s a community out there and I’m here to drown in a sea of content creators. I’m not looking to be an influencer (I’m just too old). I’m just here to tell a story with pictures and videos.
